As turmoil in society grew to proportions never seen before, cheating and corruption in sports also grew. One thing that will affect sports tremendously in 2009 is the economy. As major league teams have to spend greater amounts to attract top athletes they have to make up for it by charging the fans and advertisers more money. This year, you will see the economy affect major league sports in several ways. First, prices on tickets to sporting events will go up and people will not be able to afford to attend major league sports in person. They will stay home and watch sports or purchase pay-per-view.
