Crimes against citizens are increasing
- Whatever happened to, “Protect and Serve”
- No compassion shown to anyone on the street
- Damage the respect that was once there
Crimes against citizens are increasing. Police forces are taught in their academies that everyone they meet on the street is a potential terrorist, nutcase, or deviant who wants to kill them. This example of training breeds successive classes of graduates who do not trust anyone on the street. In fact, they are taught to respond with a level of force that is uncalled for in most cases. So as a citizen, the odds are building against you as it’s the citizens who are deemed suspect.
Whatever happened to, “Protect and Serve” that was written on the outside of all the police cars? Who are they serving now? Most likely it’s a fear-based dogma of training and mind-influencing that doesn’t really mean what it intended to mean on the streets. This new type of training was borne from a lack of respect for citizens no matter who they are.
There is no compassion shown to anyone on the street and, if there is, a story like that makes the national news because it’s so out of the ordinary.
The militarization of police forces by the federal government, that is supplying them with surplus military weapons and vehicles, has done nothing to improve relationships between law enforcement and citizens and certainly has done much to damage the respect that was once there. If law enforcement looks at everyone as a criminal, a lawbreaker, or potential terrorist that’s out to kill them then what do you expect from the future of relations between the police and the citizens?
