Regarding real estate we would urge you to think small.
If you are now living in a larger home or condo you should seriously think about downsizing. While the weather is nice you should get your home ready for sale. If you live in a 2,500 to 3,000 square foot home or larger, you should consider scaling down at least by half.
This will accomplish two things. One, it will be much less expensive living in a smaller place, whether it’s the original price or rent, the amount you spend on utilities, the money spend on maintenance and improvements, and also everything you buy to furnish the place will be much less.
The other big advantage is you will be able to sell everything you don’t need or can’t fit into the new place. When you start packing to move you will see exactly how much stuff you shouldn’t have that you never used or shouldn’t have purchased in the first place.
Get rid of everything that is nonfunctional or noncontributory to your basic comforts. Have a garage sale or estate sale and give other things to charities in order to help those in need. After you do this you will find that you are much less stressed. You will feel comfort in the fact that you were able to help others by making a decision to downsize.
