The more people you associate with the harder it gets
- We would say that trust is more important
- You are devastated for awhile
- More important and binding
How do you build an environment of trust? It’s difficult and the more people you associate with the harder it gets. That is why project teams have such a hard time communicating and cooperating, it’s an issue of trust in others.
It’s just like relationships. They say relationships are built on love, but we would say that trust is more important. It’s easy to say you love someone or hear them say they love you, but how many people in your life have you told that you trust them and heard them say they trust you? Very few.
You may not agree that trust is more important than love but look at this example. Someone you love abandons you. They cheat on you, leave you, or break up with you and you are devastated for awhile. You rationalize what it was about the relationship that caused it to fall apart. Was it you, was it something you did? Or, you go the other way and blame everything on them. They were the problem in the relationship and now it’s over and you feel bad for awhile.
Now, look at someone you trusted. You may not have even loved them, you may have just been in business with them and they betrayed your trust. The feeling is like someone jamming a spear right through you. You are winded and speechless and can’t believe you were betrayed in such a devastating manner. You end up in court, most likely, suing them and the relationship you had with them, no matter how good it was at one time, is now bitter forever. It’s not something you can forgive and forget because of the intense pain of your trust being broken. So think about the fact that building an environment of trust with someone may even be more important and binding than a love relationship.

COMMENTARY: There is no relationship without trust. You can’t trust someone else until you can trust yourself. The same is true for love. So if you meet someone you love and can trust, you will discover that they are also a lot like you, in addition to someone who loves and trusts themselves. Anything less than that is a needy and compromising relationship and someone will surely get hurt.
